Available Instruments:

something that’s not listed, please contact M.C.M.B.)
Percussionists will need to provide their own marching drums. Please contact M.C.M.B. for information
about what type of drum you will need.
Eligibility:
Any music student who will be in 7th - 12th grade during the 2009 - 2010 school year, and lives in Marin
County is eligible to audition for the M.C.M.B.
Parent involvement:
M.C.M.B. will need lots of parent help with logistical support including organizing uniforms and help with
fundraising. Parents of students who join M.C.M.B will receive information on how they can help. While on
the trip there will be plenty of chaperones, particularly those with special skills - teachers, administrators,
doctors, etc. Parents who are not chaperones will not be able to travel with the band on the trip due to a
lack of space on the tour buses in Washington D.C. and the increased logistical difficulty of having more
people on the trip. Parents are welcome to make their own travel arrangements and see us in the parade,
but there will be almost no time to spend with their students on the trip due to the busy schedule. All
students must stay with the tour at all times and will not be able to stay in hotel rooms with their parents or
leave the group to be with them. This is an important safety consideration – having students deviate from the
itinerary creates problems with supervising the students.
Commitment:
Students participating in the M.C.M.B. will be expected to make a strong commitment to being part of the
group. This includes attending rehearsals, having a positive attitude, maintaining good behavior, practicing
music, practicing marching, participating in endurance building and following instructions. Students will also
need to memorize their music.
Tour Company:
All of our travel arrangements will be handled by Music Celebrations International. As the name suggests,
this company specializes in music group tours. While in Washington D.C. the M.C.M.B. will have a
professional and local tour operator who will escort the band the whole time. This will make the trip both
smooth and very safe.
Director:
The M.C.M.B. will be directed by Jason Eckl, the award winning music teacher at Sinaloa Middle School. He
has taken school bands and choirs on many trips and will make sure that the trip is organized and safe.
